Bird Plum (Sageretia) Bonsai Tree | Broom | In 15cm Pot

Introduction

Bird Plum has fine branching and small leaves, with fresh growth often showing bronze tones before maturing to green. The broom-style canopy creates a balanced miniature-tree silhouette. It is supplied in an approximately 15cm pot.

About this bonsai

Its compact foliage suits light, regular trimming. Flowers or small ornamental fruit may develop under favourable conditions, but neither is guaranteed on arrival. The precise Sageretia species remains to be confirmed.

Position & light

Provide a bright, sheltered position with good airflow. Avoid cold draughts, drying heaters and sudden changes of location. Acclimatise gradually if placing outside during warm weather.

Watering

Keep the root ball lightly moist. Water thoroughly as the surface starts to dry and let excess water escape. This tree is sensitive to drying out, so check carefully in warm conditions.

Feeding & pruning

Feed lightly during active growth and trim extending shoots to retain the shape. Avoid heavy work just after arrival or whenever the tree is struggling.

Winter care

Keep frost-free with plenty of daylight. Reduce feeding when growth slows and continue checking soil moisture rather than watering by the calendar.
